Who we are

Founded by Dan Anton and Zaw Mahesh in 2017 with a mission to bring Burmese cuisine to London’s food-lovers, Lahpet has fast become a favourite of the London restaurant scene. Named after the fermented tea leaves that are almost completely unique to Myanmar, Lahpet started life in a warehouse in Hackney before taking on its first permanent site in Shoreditch in 2018, where it has caught the attention of food critics and diners alike.

While Lahpet certainly shows off the classical dishes of authentic Burmese cooking, the magic of this restaurant lies in the imaginative presentation and dish innovations dreamt up by co-founder and chef Zaw Mahesh, whose dishes manage to both pay homage to tradition while playfully combining flavours in ways that would be unheard of in the more traditional eateries of Myanmar. If you want to get a taste of the cuisine of this previously isolated country while also enjoying some cutting-edge, creative cooking, Lahpet is hard to beat.

COVID-19 Status
Open

Lahpet is now open to the public with extensive health and safety measures in place for you to dine in safety. If you’re not ready to venture out though, you can stock up on their meal kits, arrange a takeaway or pick-up, or buy vouchers for future dinners through their online store.

If you want to get stuck into cooking Burmese food at home, you can also pick up a number of the harder-to-find ingredients in the pantry section of their website.
